ELCO KOTO · INDEPENDENT MEASUREMENTS

The color of dimming.

Two dim-to-warm modules, one fixed sensor. Explore how dimmer command changes illuminance, color temperature, and measured output variation.

HC · ELK11HCSD · Koto Sunset100 ascending settings each36 descending checks each
HC color range≈ 2,175–3,930 K

Measured adaptive lookup endpoints with a 5% command floor.

SD color range≈ 2,020–3,120 K

Matched fast-run estimates across the warm plateau and full output.

A 50% dimmer command gives about 150 lux versus 550 lux at 100%.

THE MEASURED CURVES

Follow the light.

Move or touch any graph to read each curve at that dimmer command. Hollow markers indicate descending checks. Values between measured points are interpolated; keyboard users can focus a graph and use the arrow keys.

Inspect a dimmer setting

Values below are ascending observations. A command is not a guarantee of identical output after every dimming history.

DIMMING HISTORY

Direction changes the result.

At 17% command, HC measured about 12.5 lux ascending and 23.2 lux descending. Longer settling reduced some differences, but at 60% HC still differed by about 6% after 45 seconds.

Both directions remain visible in the graphs and downloads. These observations are an installation curve, not a universal specification for every fixture or dimmer.

FLICKER · READ WITH CARE

Variation is measured. Safety is not certified.

HC fast captures show a spectral candidate near 120 Hz. Observed min/max modulation was about 36% at full output and 40–42% at 50–60% command.

The sampling rate is only about 240–254 samples/second. Aliasing and phase coverage near its limit can understate modulation. Low-signal readings are quantization-limited; apparent zero or 100% modulation there is not a dependable severity estimate.

PstLM and SVM were not measured. HC visible flicker was not assessed. These graphs do not establish flicker-free operation.

METHOD & REPRODUCIBILITY

What the sensor actually saw.

Matched acquisition

HC: October 7, 2026. SD: October 6, 2026. Same fixed OPT4048 position and Lutron dimmer. A three-second settling wait, two color windows per setting, and a five-second fast waveform. Descent checks every 1% through 20%, then every 5% above.

Color & brightness

Color mode uses 25 ms conversions per channel and 30 individual samples per window. CCT is estimated from measured chromaticity using a nearest Planckian locus in CIE 1960 uv. No scaling to manufacturer ratings. Lux is illuminance at the sensor, not fixture lumens.

Limits & flags

Fast mode uses 600 μs conversions per channel. Modulation is 100 × (max−min)/(max+min), including sensor noise. The low-signal screen flags means below ten quantization steps. It is a measurement heuristic, not a flicker standard. Missing CCT is unavailable, never zero.
